Game 1: Penn State Mont Alto 19, Maine-Augusta 2
Carter Fogal picked up nine strikeouts in five innings of work as the Mont Alto offense exploded for 19 runs on 18 hits in a 19-2 victory over Maine-Augusta in game one of their doubleheader on Friday afternoon. Garrett Worth capped off a four run first inning for Mont Alto as he hit a two run home run to right center, scoring Cameron Bailey. Maine-Augusta added a run in the top of the second inning before Mont Alto scored four more in the home half to move ahead 8-1 after two innings of play.
Mont Alto connected on several base hits in the bottom of the third inning, scoring nine runs on seven hits and two errors in the inning. The home squad would add two more runs in the home half of the fourth inning to win 19-2 in game one.
Game 2: Penn State Mont Alto 8, Maine-Augusta 1
Joshua Sullivan kept the Moose offense on its heals long enough in game two for the Mont Alto offense to break out for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning before the contest was called due to heavy rain in the area. Carter Fogal had one hit in the game, but it was the biggest, a three run home run to add some insurance runs. James Sibert had the other extra base hit on the afternoon with a triple in the bottom of the fourth inning which plated two runs.
Sullivan earned the win for Mont Alto, striking out five batters in six innings of work. He allowed one earned run and scattered six hits allowed.
