Women's Soccer Drops Opening USCAA Tournament Contest

The opening game for the women's soccer team at the USCAA National Championships came down to the very last penalty kick. They were defeated by #1 ranked John Smith's College 1-0 in penalty kicks. They will need a win tomorrow against Johnson & Wales to have a chance to continue their season.

-Overtime wasn't enough as top-ranked Paul Smith's College defeated PSUAC Champions Penn State Mont Alto 1-0 on penalty kicks

-Mont Alto pitched a shutout in regulation despite being outshot 20-7 and shots on goal were in favor of Paul Smith's 6-2

-Nicole Jones and Lacey Daum registered the only shots on goal for Mont Alto

-USCAA Division II Player of the Year Hayleigh Gates paced Paul Smith's in regulation with four shot attempts, she was held in check by the stout Mont Alto defense for most of the contest

-Paul Smith's was able to get two shots on goal each from Samantha Severing and Grace Kronick
