Bio

Marty Ogle has been a member of the Penn State Mont Alto Athletic Department since 1984; he was the Intramural Director before becoming Director of Athletics in 1986.  Throughout the last 26 years Ogle has been a part of many changes and improvements for the Athletic Department at Mont Alto.

When Ogle came to Mont Alto in 1984, the building that houses the gym was not here.  There were only three varsity sports and now the program has grown to 10 varsity sports and two club sports along with several intramurals that are offered.  Ogle has played a major role in now having a building with a gym, multi-purpose room, fitness center, cardio room, locker rooms and several offices for athletic staff.  Softball, Baseball and soccer fields have been built, the cross country course has been designed through campus and tennis courts are in two locations.  The golf team’s home course is now on Penn Nationals’ Founder’s Course.

Ogle has helped tremendously increase the staff of the athletic department, including hiring head and assistant coaches for every sport to recruit student-athletes.  Mont Alto now has an Associate Director of Athletics and Sport Information Director, an Athletic Trainer and a team physician.  On the academic side, Ogle has worked out a program with the Academic Support Center on campus that all athletes have an Academic Skills Coach monitoring and assisting the athletes throughout the year.  All of these improvements were made possible by Ogle and he continues to build a credible athletic program at Penn State Mont Alto.

Mont Alto is now a member of the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) where Ogle has been the President of PSUAC Council of Athletic Directors for the past 12 years and Chairperson of the PSUAC Executive Committee for the past two.  Along with the PSUAC, Mont Alto Varsity Athletics is also a part of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) which gives athletes the opportunity to compete at the national level and earn All-American awards.  Ogle’s influence and determination has been the reason for the positive changes and advancement in Mont Alto’s Athletic department.
