Mont Alto, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto men's and women's cross country teams have set their schedule for the 2017 season with the Lions competing in seven events during the fall. In 2016, the Penn State Mont Alto women captured the programs first-ever conference championship finishing first at the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference Championship at nearby Norlo Park.
The 2017 season opens on Friday, September 1 at the Galen Piper Alumni Open/Shippensburg XC Challenge and a week later, the Lions will compete in the Shannon Henretty Invitational hosted by Stevenson University.
The Lions will host just one regular season race this season as Penn State Mont Alto will welcome teams to Norlo Park for the Mont Alto Invitational on Saturday, September 23. The races begin at 1 p.m. with the women running on a 6K course and the men competing on an 8K course. More information on the invitational can be found HERE.
Penn State Mont Alto will run in the Frostburg State Invitational, Goucher College Cross Country Classic and the Hood College Invitational will conclude the regular season for the Lions on Saturday, October 14. After a two-week break, Penn State Mont Alto will host the PSUAC Championships at Norlo Park on Saturday, October 28.
The 2017 schedule concludes with the USCAA National Championships, which will be held in Virginia Beach, Va. on Friday, November 10.
Head Coach Bill Preston returns for his fifth season at the helm of the program with preseason practice slated to begin on August 21.
